The idea behind this project is embracing your natural beauty. She has a dragonfly on the top of her head that kind of acts like a queen's crown. She also has the words Natural Beauty and a flower hidden in her hair as these are things of nature; natural beauty. Last, there are several hearts in her hair because she loves who she is. (Every piece of paper was hand rolled and shaped which took a LONG time, but was worth it in the end).
Your use of lines in this piece and emphasis of natural beauty is the reason why I like this piece so much. It's bright, it's happy, it's colorful, and it's all in all a very pretty project. I like the idea of beauty being hidden until you can "see" it. Hopefully you plan on framing this, it would make the piece look more finished and complete.
ReplyDeleteYour style of work is unique. It contains many lines and shapes which were used to define the features of this beautiful natural woman. For example, the nose, eyebrows, hair, lips were defined with lines. The interpretation was a beautiful black woman that embraces natural beauty. The spiral shapes used in her hair is amazing but might cause some disturbance to the eye if you look at it for long. I think this is a success because it is unique and I like it a lot although it would have been better to use a different color piece of papers to write out the word natural beauty in the middle of the art to make it pop out.

ReplyDeleteThis piece is very creative and different. The artist uses lines in order to create the texture of the woman's natural hair. By using the pink Ribbon on the white background the was able to create emphasis and draw the eye to the Woman's hair. The idea of spelling out Natural beauty in the hair was a very cool idea. Even though i did not see it at first when looking at the actual project, It really blended in well with the rest of the piece.

I loved the way you used the negative space and used the pieces of ribbon to make the spirals and lines to create repetition throughout the piece. This artwork seems as if it took s lot of time and it shows because it's awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis was a great piece. you really did alot of arts in crafts here with the strips of ribbon. I also like how you added the words "Natural Beauty" in the hair to blend in. But the only little issue that I had was that the words couldve been more eye popping. I also like how how used negative space towards the white paper. This is an awesome project. Great job....!
ReplyDeleteI think this is so beautiful! I would put this on my wall! You really did well with with the facial features. The only think I would add is maybe some context around the head in the blank space. Or maybe use a different colored paper! Good job!
